Overview
Thyrfing’s history dates back to 1995 when it all started. In 1997 Hammerheart Records was very enthusiastic about the band’s second demo and signed the band, which resulted in their debut-album “Thyrfing”, recorded at Sunlight Studios. The follow-up “Valdr Galga” was recorded at Abyss Studio and made a breakthrough for Thyrfing, resulting in killer reviews, a big European tour and an appearance at Dynamo Open Air in 1999! In the new millennium Thyrfing’s position was secured by their third album “Urkraft”, once again recorded at Abyss Studio. In 2002 the band released their fourth album “Vansinnesvisor” which was their most ambitious release by far, which differed in recording (this time Dug Out Studio) and also in music. It all became more progressive, without leaving the typical Thyrfing trademarks behind. Still a mixture of more melodic Black and Death Metal, with synths and Folkish sounding parts, with a big focus on Swedish history and lyrics in both English and Swedish language. Currently Thyrfing is busy writing their fifth album ... most likely to be released in 2005.
